Sparkling wines

Friuli Venezia Giulia can also be seen as a unique, big vineyard with four different types of soil which refers to the D.O.C. Areas.  The first is the Marlstone area which includes the Colli Orientali del Friuli and Collio D.O.C. Areas, where both the white and red wine is the king.
The second one is bigger and includes the Grave and Isonzo D.O.C. Areas, where the rivers created a gravelly and stony plain with a special vocation for the grapevine’s cultivation.
There’s then a small area which reaches the Adriatic Sea, where the grapevines are being cultivated in sandy soils of red clay and this is the Aquileia and Latisana D.O.C. Area.
Last but not the least, the heroic grapevines on the Carso, which from the mountain go down to the Sea. A small geographic area compared to the others national realities, but surely important because it is a mix of vocation, tradition, technology and great love and respect for the territory. Only these areas can produce the perfect grapes for a Classic Method Sparkling Wine; it is in this zone that are being cultivated the three types of grapes which Dom Perignon considers the best ones for the production of natural sparkling wines: Pinot Nero, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay.
We shared what Dom Perignon had discovered, preferring exclusively Pinot Nero and starting to work with it since the first harvest in 1983.
